A Bit About Leith

Patience, persistence, detail, and expansive art are key goals for Leith as an artist. His drawings are extremely complex and extraordinarily detailed, utilising magnification equipment and ultra-fine engineering pens to draw marks often less than a millimetre. Drawings can take several months, with larger drawings up to 10 meters taking years to complete.

Leith's contemporary abstraction art explores a few primary themes.

·         His local environment in Carrickalinga North, including its dunes of national significance, and the threats posed by climate change.  Often referencing patterns from across cultures and time to create abstracted cartography heavily influenced by Japanese and Southeast Asian traditions

·         Social and queer themes are featured prominently within his artworks too.  Exploration, documentation of queer identity and the international social implications of HIV within shunned communities.  Often working collaboratively with national or international health outreach providers, Leith's art has featured prominently within numerous international health conferences.  His affinity for recognising the social impacts of health can be witnessed in his Saint Sebastian HIV/AIDS Memorial, previously located within the Old Royal Adelaide Hospital, South Australia.

Leith is honoured to have been selected twice as the official portrait artist for the South Australian President.

Awarded the Queen's Trust Award and Mendelson Award.

Collaboration with corporations like Glaxo Wellcome Pharmaceuticals International demonstrates how socially rewarding connections between art and corporate businesses can be.

As a finalist in a plethora of national and international prizes and competitions, Leith is recognised as an artist of high standing. His art has even been featured alongside luminaries like Yoko Ono and Andy Warhol. His art can be found in Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Singapore, India, Germany, the UK, France, Spain, the USA, Canada, and the Rosenkranz Collection Bremen.

He provides collectors with the highest-quality artwork that inspires and captivates audiences. Whether you are interested in commissioning a piece or purchasing existing artwork, don't hesitate to contact Leith to discuss how he can bring your vision to life.
