Carrickalinga Sponge, by Leith Semmens.

  • Graphite (lead pencil) drawing.  This original graphite drawing should ideally be displayed away from direct sunlight to avoid colour loss and ideally framed behind UV protected glass.

This image was drawn as part of a continuing series of observational studies regarding washed up sea debris at Carrickalinga Beach in South Australia.

Carrickalinga Beach is one of my favourite places.  The sound of waves crashing upon the rock formations and the long secluded white sandy beaches nestled in a small natural amphitheatre of geography.  However like most of our coasts, this beautiful location is most likely doomed to irrevocable damage from Climate Change.

I am trying to catalogue this location and it's personal wonders before it all disappears.

A number of gifts featuring Carrickalinga Sponge can be located at our Souvenir and Gift Shop, TripodDogShop at Redbubble.
